I always wondered how this came about.Was it perhaps some form of ownership transfer because Peter Sauber couldn't find enough sponsorship? If so,why do the news reports say he ' gave' her a one third share?

Giving shares is a good way to pay someone based on the future performance of the company, incentivizing them to perform well. Whether or not that was the reason, I do not know.
